MY VOTE IS CAST.

By Randal Rust

My wife and I put our absentee ballots in the mail today. I am proud to say that we both voted for George W. Bush.

I will be so glad when this election is over and done with. I am so tired of hearing how Bush lied and Kerry is a flip-flopper.

No President intentionally leads our nation on a path that they think will lead to trouble. The only time they lie is when they are covering their own individual misdeeds. Nixon and Clinton come to mind. The point is, I don't know why anyone thinks that Bush lied to the nation. It's like accusing someone of lying because they said they would be at your house at 7:30 and they are 10 minutes late. Is he the best President of my lifetime? No. That would be Reagan. However, if W could do a better job of mastering the English language, I think he'd be pretty close to Reagan.

As far as Kerry goes, there is a 20-year voting record for higher taxes, gun control and bigger government. Not to mention he's in the Vietnam War Hall of Fame (or whatever it is) for helping to end the U.S. action in the war.

When it's all said and done, I vote for the person who has similar moral beliefs and is less likely to raise my taxes.

I guess we'll find out what everyone else thinks tomorrow -- or Wednesday -- or Thursday.

Hopefully we just know by Thanksgiving this time.
