NEW ADDRESS, COMING SOON.

By Randal Rust

When the twins came, it because quickly evident that our house was too small for three boys and all of our things, so we decided to move this year.

It took us all of 6 hours to sell our quaint, well-kept, ranch-style house, so we have been scrambling to find something to move to for about six weeks. If you've never bought a house, then you should know that late July and early August is quite possibly the worst time of the year to look. We knew this going in, but had our fingers crossed that it would work itself out.

Last night, we made an offer on a house that we have known for some time was going to go on the market. While the house itself isn't perfect, it has most of the features we were looking for -- nice lot, good location, first floor den, deck and large master bath. It just needs some paint, TLC and a finished basement and it will be a wonderful house to live in for the next decade or so.

One of the best features is that it is right next door to Jacob's best friend, Jack. This means a lot to me. You always hear parents say that they want to give their kids what they didn't have. Well, what I didn't have growing up was a lot of kids around to play with. We lived out in the country and the nearest neighbor was still a half-mile or more down the road. I never really had the opportunity to get to know any of the kids my age all that well, because I only saw them at school, or during baseball season. So I have always wanted to make sure that my children would be able to make and maintain their friends throughout their childhood. While the new move will cost us more money, it will be worth it every time I see my boys running around in the yard with their friends.

But it's not a done deal yet. Hopefully in about three hours...
