Pete Townshend was arrested the other day, on suspicion of posessing child pornography.
I find this very disturbing. Not because I've always been a big fan of Pete's work with The Who, but because it seems that Townshend has been steadfastly against pornography on the Internet.
Several months ago, on his Web site, he posted a lengthy article talking about the child pornography chat rooms on Google. He was plainly disgusted that the things even existed. He did not say if he'd been in them, but he did say how many there are, which I'm sure can be found out by a simple search.
The article is gone from his site, since they don't seem to archive his diary, which is too bad, because it was very poignant.
I sincerely hope that Townshend is being truthful about his innocence, and that he can get back to work with Roger Daltrey on new material for them to perform.
