USC PUTS IOWA IN ITS PLACE

By Randal Rust

The USC Trojans hammered the Iowa Hawkeyes last night to the tune of 38-17 in the 2003 Orange Bowl.

I turned the game off at halftime, with the score tied 10-10, figuring that USC would dominate the second half, just as they had the first, but with better results. The Hawkeyes were simply worn down by the USC passing attack, and suprisingly, the running game.

As an Ohio State fan, who has grown weary of the pundits praise of Iowa, I was pleased to see this result. I have felt all season long that Iowa was highly overrated. People can say what they want about Ohio State's schedule, but at least they didn't play any NCAA 1-AA teams.

I wonder what Trev Alberts will have to say after tonight's National Championship Game, especially if OSU pulls off the upset. Even if OSU loses, and it's a close game, I think that he has to concede that the Buckeyes are the better football team.
