For my son's first birthday, I bought him one of those baseball gloves with the velcro ball. You know, the kind that the ball sticks to. Of course I knew he wouldn't do anything with it for quite a while, he's only a year old....but last night he made my week.
Just before bedtime, he was playing with the ball, which he likes to throw at Mommy and Daddy. Out of nowhere, he walks over and picks up the glove and sticks the ball in it, turns around and gives us that big toothy grin as if to say "Look what I did! I know where the ball goes!"
I had him bring the ball and glove over to me and I put it on my hand and tossed the ball in the air a few times, showing him how it's done. He loved it.
So I took the glove and handed it to him. For a fleeting moment, I thought he was going to put the glove on his hand. But he didn't, he decided to hold it with two hands while I tossed the ball in the air and he caught it (meaning I threw it to the glove and it stuck).
Jacob will be 14 months old in two days, and I couldn't be more proud of him.
